Sassi, view #13, Matera - Hahnemühle German Etching Print

The Sassi of Matera, a UNESCO World Heritage site in southern Italy's Basilicata region, showcases ancient stone architecture carved directly into limestone cliffs. These sand-colored buildings, some dating back to the Paleolithic era, create a unique urban landscape of narrow alleyways, staircases, and terraces.

The photograph was shot on a late summer afternoon of 2023. The warm light at the end of the day caressed the ancient architecture in Matera beautifully, showing its details, lines, and signs of time.
