Craco, Ghost town, Basilicata - Giclée Print on Hahnemühle Photo Rag paper
Original photography by Angela Larotonda
Abandoned following a landslide in the 70s and an earthquake in the 80s, Craco is the Ultimate ghost town. Located between Montalbano and Bernalda, in the sunny southern Basilicata region, Craco has been rediscovered in recent times by tourists and the movie industry. The land in this area is bare and rich in white clay, steep and characterised by precipices and valleys excavated by water erosion. The view of the Calanchi, the amazing colours at sunset, the decadent buildings falling apart, made this scene breathtaking.
